Student Recognition

It is the goal of the John L. Golden Elementary staff to provide encouragement for all students to grow into stellar citizens of our school community. We encourage families to read through this with their students to help them decide which awards they want to attain and set goals to achieve those awards.

The Six Pilalars of Character

Character Character Counts TK-5th Students demonstrate outstanding character development. Recognized by administration in a parent attended assembly
Character Golden Tickets TK-5th Staff observes students’ exceptionally helpful and leadership-like behaviors. Monthly drawing
Art PTA Reflections TK-5th Students submit various types of artistic products through six arts categories - dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Attendance Excellent Attendance TK-5th Students are recognized who are at school for the whole day (includes being on time and staying the whole school day) all trimester except for 2 or less absences. Students meet administration on the playground during recess for a treat/reward.
Health Walk Across America 1st-5th Students walk before school to meet 5, 10, 15 and so on mile markers. Students receive various awards and prizes for the amount of miles they walk.
Academic Accelerated Reader 1st-5th Students meet their individual reading goal each trimester. Students are invited to attend an AR party each trimester.
Music Chorus 1st-5th Participation throughout school year. Recognized through special performance
Character Student Council 4th-5th Students are elected by their peers and approved by teacher as having leadership qualities. Students participate in leadership activities. Recognized with certificate during assembly
Academic & Citizenship Principal's Honor Roll 4th-5th 3.6 GPA or higher for trimester and at least a B in citizenship Recognized by administration in a parent attended assembly
Academic & Citizenship Honor Roll 4th-5th 3.0-3.59 GPA for trimester and at least a B in citizenship Recognized by administration in a parent attended assembly
Academic Outstanding Effort 4th-5th Students that have shown exceptional effort in academics (did not qualify for Honor Roll or Principal’s Honor Roll). Recognized by administration in a parent attended assembly
Music Band 5th Participation throughout the school year. Recognized through special performance
